System sizing recommendations

General recommendations

When selecting infrastructure to run the UK credit processing solutions on Aperture Data Studio the following general guidelines can be used and are listed in order of importance.

  1. Prefer faster processors and more cores.
    • Due to the nature of the processing required for UK credit processing solutions, faster cores will make the largest impact to performance.
    • More cores will allow for faster parallel execution of workflows, or execution of multiple portfolios.
  2. Prefer faster and more RAM.
    • A minimum amount of RAM is required based on the volume of data being processed.
    • Additional RAM will make some improvement to processing time, but will help more with processing multiple portfolios simultaneously or allowing for multiple concurrent users.
  3. Prefer faster disk.
    • Fast SSD disks will improve performance, but the impact will be less noticeable.

Minimum requirements

The minimum system requirements should be considered a bare minimum required to process a portfolio in an automated fashion, or with a single user.

Processing multiple portfolios, having multiple concurrent active users or processing for any other solution will require more resources than outlined below.

Component Minimum requirement
Processor 4 virtual cores @2.3Ghz
RAM 16 GB
Component Minimum requirement
Processor 8 virtual cores @2.3Ghz
RAM 32 GB

Recommended sizing

Recommended sizing is based on balancing performance with cost.

If selecting virtual machines on Azure, AWS or Google Cloud, select a VM from the compute optimized series which balances cost and performance.

Component Minimum requirement
Processor 8 virtual cores @3.4Ghz
RAM 16 GB

Benchmark times

Benchmark times were generated for validation of different sized monthly submission files. These can be used as a general guide based on the number of active accounts submitted each month.

All tests were run using Azure VMs using premium SSD.
