Locate your current data directory

Locate the directory where your Experian data files are installed for use by your Experian products. By default this is within your product files, for example:

C:\Program Files\QAS\<product>\Data</product>, or
C:\Program Files\Experian\<product>\Data</product>, or
C:\Program Files (x86)\QAS\<product>\Data</product>

For step-by-step information on locating your data files, see below:

To locate your data files in Windows, run through the steps below in order until you locate your data files.

  1. Try running the default directory path as shown above by using the Run feature from the Windows Start menu. Copy the directory path above and paste it into the Run window, then click OK.
    • If the directory opens a window with the data files in it, proceed to updating the data files.
    • If you get a prompt specifying the path is "unavailable" then move onto the next step.
  2. Use the Search feature on the Windows Start menu to search for one of the data files, for example gbr.dts.
    • If the search result finds the correct data file, right click on the data file and choose Open file location. Proceed to updating the data files.
    • If this search returns with no results then move onto the next step.
  3. Use the Search feature on the Windows Start menu to search for the file qawserve.ini. Double-click on the file to open and look for the keyword InstalledData= or InstalledCountries=. This is the location where your Experian data files are stored:
  4. Navigate to the correct directory.
